I Love To Paint…..!

I love to paint…..just not my walls!  I’m getting ready for the “Where Bloggers Create Blog Party” and needed to spruce up my place, so I have been painting a little.  A little is right.  I haven’t been very enthused about it, so I found myself making excuses to avoid painting.  I took Friday off from work and got started.  First I “cut in” around a door, and about 3 feet of the baseboard. Then I wandered into the kitchen for some diet Coke.  Came back, cut in the corner, took a sip of my soda and cut in about 2 feet of the baseboard.

Went to the kitchen and got some chips to go with my drink, ate those, sipped my drink and cut in around a window.  This went on for about 3 hours and I have only cut in about 1/2 of my room and gained 2 pounds!  At this rate, I’ll be painting right up to the wire on June 19th!

I’m going from a light color to a medium tone, but it is still going to take 2 coats (oh boy can’t wait!) .  Anyway…my new bloggy friends are worth this extra effort.  It’s like when your mother-in-law comes to visit and you give your house a good cleaning.  I want things to look nice for all of you! Well, I better get back to painting….the brush is calling out to me!

Hope you will join me for the party and see the finished results! Have a safe holiday!

Prayer Pocketbook

A few weeks ago I posted about seeing a Prayer Pocketbook and not remembering where I had spotted it. I wanted to embellish one after I spotted one from my childhood when I was going through my stuff.  You can’t imagine how surprised I was when I opened my new Somerset Studio magazine and on page 54 is the project. It’s entitled “Portable Prayers”.  Stampington has a snippet of this project on their website at: http://stampington.com/html/ss_mj10.html . I knew hadn’t just dreamed of seeing one, but for a while I was getting worried about myself!

Using Windows Live Writer

I just downloaded Windows Live Writer after reading about it on Jodie’s website @ Everything Vintage. This is my first post using it, so bear with me as I learn it. I found some really great info to help us newbie bloggers. Just look on the left hand side under “Tutorials 101” and then follow the links to “Photo Watermark”, or click here to go straight there. Thanks Jodie for always sharing your info with us!

Our Awesome God!

Don't we serve an awesome God! I'm amazed daily at the love He has for me. I sometimes just blunder through life and look back and wonder how I have even made it this far and the answer always is the same, God is taking care of me, his lowly child. Thank you dear Father for loving me in spite of myself and for sending your precious son Jesus to save my soul!

Prayer Pocketbook...have you seen one?

Dear Friends,

In my internet trekking I came across a "Prayer Pocketbook". It was made from an old coin purse and dressed up with lace and beads, I think. There was something about writing down your prayers and putting them in the purse to keep them in remembrance. Anyway...have any of you seen this? I can't remember where I saw it. Maybe someone's blog, or a crafting website. In cleaning out my hoard of stuff  wonderful collections I came across a little coin purse and I would like to do something with it, if I can find my inspiration.  If any of you have seen this on a website, please drop me a link. I would appreciate it!

Jackpot at the garage sale today

Ladies, I hit the jackpot at a garage sale I went to this morning. I pinched myself all the way to my car just to make sure it was really happening. Here are my goodies I scored, all for just $10! I thought it was a pretty good deal!

The spoon collection was $5.00 and it includes several unique pieces. One of them has a little windmill on top that actually spins.  The 2 frames with the beautiful girls inside were bought for the pretty little medalions. The fortune telling cards will be a unique item for a collage as will the Gerber Baby playing cards.  There is an old glass knob and a button  from 1963 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.  Also included, but not in the picture was a small cast iron skillet. And the 2 really great items as you can see are these awesome magazines.

A Good Housekeeping magazine dated February 1952 and

A Harper's Bazaar magazine dated September 1936!
See why I was pinching myself! I'm so excited!

I love the medallions of the girls. Not sure what I'll do with them though, but thought they would look pretty on some jewelry.

There are 36 cards that would add interest to a collage I think.

These are some pictures from the Harper's Bazaar mag. Have a great weekend my bloggy friends!
