New Title Picture

So I've been thinking that I needed to create a new title picture for my blog. All of the blogs I visit have such wonderful pictures that really pull you in to look at the blogs and correspond with their themes. Well last night I finished it and scanned it in and uploaded it.  I asked my sweet husband  what he thought about it. He commented, well I like the birds on it. The birds!, I exclaimed.  Of all the things on the pic, the birds were the thing I didn't create. I got them from Wal-mart's craft section, Martha Stewart brand. I do agree that the birds are very cute (that's why I got them), but that's not the reaction I wanted from him. Oh well, at least he's honest! After being married to him for 31 years, I should have know not to ask him in the first place. Will I ever learn? (Smile.) Probably not!

Trip to the Zoo!

Recently I went to the Tyler Zoo. The flowers were beautiful, especially the azaleas and Sweet William (Pinks) that are in the pictures. With all the rain we've had this year, everything is really blooming out beautifully!

Purple vine

Many of you have asked me what kind of flowers/vine is in the picture from yesterday's post. It is called a "clematis" and they come in several colors. It took a while to take off, but the last 2 years has done quite well. I just throw some water its way every now and then! So it must be a pretty sturdy plant if I can grow it!

Lovely Ladies, Lovely Flowers

Thank you sweet ladies in blog land for your wonderful inspiration, words of encouragement about my new blog and for taking the time to stop by and say "hi"! You are all the best! Thanks to Jodie for being my first follower and encourage everyone to visit the new blogs. I have already met the nicest folks and look forward to "spending time" with all of you. Have a great week!
This pretty vine is in my back yard. It was planted about 4 years ago, but has only really started to show off its bright blooms for the last 2 years.  I wish it would stay this way all summer, but sadly the blooms will be gone soon.

Successful garage sale

Well as most of you know, you can't really call your own garage sale a success, unless you make it home with a few items that your purchased from your neighbor's garage sale. There goes my profit! I got a cute curio cabinet, including cobwebs and all for $5.00. I thought that was a great deal. With a little paint it will look like a million dollars!

I also purchased this table for $25 and I think it will fit my kitchen just fine to serve as an island. Not too big, but just big enough.  Success!

Wednesday of my vacation week

Well it's Wednesday of my vacation week and have I gotten my stuff ready for the garage sale yet? No! It has now been changed to a Saturday only sale as Friday will be the day that I can finally get things priced. Where does time go when you take a "home vacation" week? Tuesday and today (Wednesday) were spent at my son's tennis tournament. He did come in 4th place in District which is the best he has ever done. I am very proud of him! Tomorrow I am going with my oldest son and his son (my grandson :) ) to the zoo. That's where my vacation time has gone and now as I look back on it, I don't think I could have spent the week doing anything better!

Still Organizing

This week I am on vacation from work. I took off with plans to go to my son’s last high school tennis tournament this Tuesday (he’s a senior), and get ready for a garage sale on Friday/Saturday.  It’s only Monday and I have already decided that there is no way that I will be ready for that garage sale!  I started organizing my craft supplies last week and now I don’t want to quit, especially to get ready for a garage sale. Here are some things I have discovered in my organizing:
-         For someone who doesn’t sew very well, I have way too much material.
-         Just how many packages of needles does a person need?
-         I have 5 (FIVE!) glue guns? Where did they come from and why can I never find them when I need them?
-         I would be a rich woman if I had never spent money on craft supplies.
-         Money doesn’t buy happiness!

My Wall of A's

I love to collect different A’s, especially since not only does my last name now start with an A, but also my maiden name did.  Here is my wall of A’s. Three of them are made from paper maiche and of those, there are 2 that I still need to embellish. The large red A came from a flea market and I got it for $8.00. I thought that was a pretty good deal!

Here's a close up of the A that I completed. On the bottom, I put the initials of our family members, bbcnz to make it personal and since there are 5 in my family, I added the # 5.
I have some wooden letters BBCNZ that I am going to mount on a plaque and add to my wall of A's just to add some interest.

Easter "Baskets"

My middle son’s girlfriend made these cute Easter "baskets" out of galvanized buckets at Easter. Two  for her kids and the Thomas Train one for my grandson.  They turned out really cute!  She took into consideration what each one liked. Her daughter got the one with butterflies, flowers and dots, and her son, who loves to fish,  got the one with a fish on one side and frog on the other.

I am definitely new to blogging.... until a few days ago, I knew it was there, but didn't really understand how it worked and that you could have your OWN blogspot very easily through google. What fun I have been missing. I really came across it by accident. Did a google search for altered art and came across the Paper Cowgirl site. As I looked further I saw all the links to the other wonderful craft bloggers and I am hooked! All of you ladies are inspiring me to get my craft area cleaned up and organized and get busy! You all have some beautiful items...love the vintage stuff especially. I have a lot of old stuff collected from my grandmothers mostly and really don't know what to do with it. I have gotten several ideas in the past few days from looking at your pages. Hopefully I'll be able to make something soon and share it with you. So glad I found all of you!!! : )
What a wonderful Easter we had! Great day at church, good food and time with family. I am blessed!

Bought some new ferns today at a plant sale to try and get ready for everyone at my house tomorrow for Easter. It will be a glorious day! My family is coming for lunch after chuch and I can't wait. Oh...but the house cleaning is calling me. Wish I had time for some crafting, but maybe tomorrow afternoon!

Picture of a sturdy dutch oven cooktop

This is a real nice stand, very sturdy. I like the rail around the side to keep the ovens from falling off accidently and give you a place to hang you lid lifter, etc.

First Blog

Good Friday. No, really, it's Good Friday! Wonderful weather is scheduled for tomorrow. Oh, so many things to do and such little time to get them done. The fun is in the doing!
